BLACK CRACKS

Background: For Black people, 52% of initial melanoma diagnoses are at an advanced stage vs only 16% for White people.
Insight: Black don’t crack is a stereotype that black skin maintains its youthfulness late into life, however black skin is not invincible against the harmful affects of the sun.
Idea: Using UV color-changing technology, we created clothing and accessories with Black-owned streetwear brands that alert people when they’ve had too much sun exposure. All proceeds go towards education and prevention of melanoma in Colored communities.
